Timothy R. Botts

“Expressive Calligraphy” Exhibit

Opening night: October 5 at 5:00 PM
On display through November 25

First Baptist Church

Timothy R. Botts is a master calligrapher who studied graphic design and calligraphy at Carnegie-Mellon University. After graduation, he spent three years in Japan teaching conversational English where he was exposed to the rich brush writing tradition of the East.

He then began a forty-year career at Tyndale House Publishers, designing over 600 books and bibles before his retirement in 2012.

“I aim to make the words look like what they mean, always trying to strike a balance between legibility and expression,” says Botts. “Making these word pictures is, for me as a visual person, the strongest way to reflect on God’s Word. To share them with others is an additional joy.”

Opening night of the exhibit will be at the October Art Hop on October 5 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The art will be on display though November 25.

The Bahar Ensemble and Orchestra Rouh will also be performing at this location on October 5 starting at 6:00 PM.
